Burgerhof Meßner Winery and Buschenschank
The Burgerhof is located on a glacier terrace at 750 meters above sea level above Brixen. It was first mentioned in a document in the 13th century. Originally it was probably the "Mairhof", the supply farm of the Pfeffersberg Castle , which was built in the late 12th century and was razed and abandoned a little later. The foundations and individual castle walls are still reminiscent of the construction today.

Products:
Suckler cow husbandry and viticulture, with its 1.3 hectares, are the main fields of activity at the Burgerhof. In order for biological cycles to develop, however, species and variety diversity is fundamental. This sounds like this, for example: courgettes, tomatoes, various seasonal salads, potatoes, spinach, chard, garlic, onions, rocket, kohlrabi, cucumbers, many different herbs, old apple varieties, plums, strawberries, peaches, nectarines, apricots, blueberries , gooseberries, blackberries, cherries... and so on and so forth. The best thing is for our guests to get an idea on site.
The Buschenschank:
As openly as we are in the design of our dishes, we are as narrow in relation to the food. We can operate almost independently. And if we don't succeed, then we look for local partners. This is the only way we can close all important cycles for nature and the coexistence of people in and around the Burgerhof. We look forward to your visit.
The family:
- John
Johannes is a young and well-travelled farmer. As a passionate cook and oenologist, he has returned to his roots. He lives for the idea of organic farming, for the manufacture of high-quality products and for management in short and regional cycles.
- Catherine
Katrin has struck new roots at the Burgerhof in Brixen. She works as an architect and, as an organizational talent, gets involved imaginatively and creatively in court life with her sleeves rolled up.
- French
Franz laid the foundation for the natural economy on the farm. He is a persevering inventor and all-rounder when it comes to working and designing with nature.
- Anneliese
Anneliese is the head of the garden. She is a critical spirit and at the same time the good soul at court. As a curious and socially committed person in Brixen, she always opens the gates for interpersonal relationships, encounters and good conversations.
